Air miles

Over the past 15 months i have taken the following flights:
London to Korea
Korea to Chicago
Chicago to Los Angeles
Los Angeles to Korea
Korea to Hong Kong
Hong Kong to London
London to Chicago
Chicago to Japan
Japan to Korea
Korea to Frankfurt
Frankfurt to London.

I have flown with the following airlines

Korean Air
American Airlines
Cathay Pacific
Asiana
United Airlines
Lufthansa

Therefore my passion for Jetting off to other countries has well and truely gone. I now hate the thought of getting on another plane. Okay so hate me be a strong word but i don't enjoy it like i used to. If i had the opportunity to travel in first class, have a lie down bed, and be pampered then obviously wouldn't care about a 9 - 11 hour flight. But my finances restrict this pleasure.

Anyway whilst i am talking about flying i will tell you that i have just booked yet another flight to Chicago. I leave the UK on the 2nd September. I am flying with Virgin this time. Seriously i should be an economy travel writer. Infact i may look into that!

Workin' like a one-armed paper-hanger with an itch...

well i am now three quarters of my first month at school. What can i say, after an 8 week break and flying from pillar to post i walked into my first class like i had never left. Once a teacher always a teacher eh!

I have all new classes, i even teach business English to an Adult once a week...

The kids as always are darlngs, apart from my one class of 4 boys and a girl. There is a facination with the word WHY?

I look at the student who is talking.... WHY? he says

I ask him to shut the door............ Why? he says

Stop talking and listen to me............ Why? he says

Get out of the class and go home to chat to your mother! Why......... yeah you get the picture.

So these kids are 12 years old.... rude as hell... i think every teacher has that one class with the majority of kids that don't want to be there and have the mentality of "your not my father therefore i won't respect you" Its simple... tell there parents! but they don't really care either.

So i have had my moan now.. but why is it that 5 out of maybe 70 students, the later 65 being angels, do i focus my blog on? beacuse they make me really mad. thats why!

Anyway apart from that all is good.

Over the past month we have settled in.. we have frinds round at the weekend and even attended a wedding. Yes we are a very busy couple.

Weddings, Birthdays, and Hip flasks!

Trying to put into words my wedding day is such a difficult task and i have often pondered the thought that photos tell a story but in this case i am going to recall the lead up to the most amazing day ever!

I flew out to Chicago on the 28th March with my mum and grandad. Due to the fact that whilst i was in korea with matt our parents had planned our wedding, they sorted the venue, flowers, cake, well basically everthing to which we owe them all the thanks in the world.

I had to get my dress and all the other little things, nails, tan etc... oh and table decorations, favors etc.... Matt was not due to arrive in chicago until april 9th, so he haf escaped the bridezilla i was turning into...

During the time we were in Chcago i hung out with my grandad in chicago, went up the hancock tower and went for a few beers. My dad and ryan arrived on the same day as matt. matt flew in from korea and my dad and ryan from Heathrow. That was such a brilliant day haveing the whole family meet and get to know eathother.

April was the month for Birthdays. We had my mums, dads and father in laws in the same week..

My mum with her cake and the specially requested spelling on MUM and not MOM.

I hung out with matts friends quite a bit whilst i was there awaiting matt to arrive. They took my to bars etc.. showed me how to party in Manhattan.. oh by the way... Root beer, its not beer, its like cream soda... did anyone but me not no that???

One messy night out!! John with his groove on!

John managed to stop dancing for at least 2 minutes!

Wasted!! the night of the root beer fiasco....

Q: mayo and chips = normal?

The wedding rehearsal went really well on the night before the wedding. The groomsmen were Justin and John, the best man being Mike. Matts friends for many years and all the most brilliant group of guys.

Justin and Kozar, the rehersal night.

And then on to the wedding. We were married at St Josephs Catholic Church in Manhattan. Its was a great service, we all had fun and i had matts sister marie as my bridesmaid who was beautiful and read for us. My best mate Natalie and her boyfriend Dave flew out for the wedding and it was great to have them there. We hung out with them in chicago after the wedding and it was great to catch up.

Oh and now to the best bit... so pics i found on matts camera,
so the story goes, whilst i was making myself look pretty matt and his groomsmen and best man were taking pics in the church... I assure you these are not the professional ones that we are awaiting...

So smart...

okay!

Desination Georgia

I have been terrible at updating recently and managed to forget to tell you that matts next location is Augusta Georgia. He will be going to Fort Gordon.

Augusta is located on the Georgia/South Carolina border, about 150 miles east of Atlanta. It is the second largest city and second largest metropolitan area in the state.

The city’s famous golf course, the Augusta National Golf Club, hosts the first major golf tournament of each year, The Masters.

The area's climate is moderate and comfortable for most of the year. Winters are generally mild, with lows in the thirties and forties and highs in the fifties and sixties. Spring and fall are unpredictable, with wide variations in temperature and conditions. Summer can be HOT! July and August are usually the hottest months, with high humidity and temperatures around 100. Oh the perfect wether, except for the humidity that will annoy my hair. Maybe i will do a Britney in the summer!!! joke!

Oh and we have a new addition to the bergmann family. She is called Sarah or Sweetie! she answers to both. She is a mini Daschund. She is 4 years old and still looks like a puppy. Anyway we adopted her and she is coming with us to georgia.

Sarah begging for food!

Anyone know where i can get a suit like this??????

Joking i would never do this to my little dog!!! well maybe!!!

Start school tomorrow. Am sure the kids will be so excited to see leanne teacher back! yeah right......

Our new aparta!

Well i have been back in Korea since last Thursday. I entered the country still a Scott, But with a fully fledged marriage licence stating i am a Bergmann. Due to my visa application i cannot change my name just yet, even though i have in fact perfected my signature.

I have my army ID card therefore i can shop on base. I can get food, i can get basically anything western and i am loving it.

On the day after we arrived back to Korea we went looking for apartments. We were shown 3.

We had 3 major issues, close to the base, good price and furnished.

As we stumbled out of the main base gate that afternoon we happened to see a sign on a shop window saying room for rent. We went into this little shop where 4 korean women were playing cards. We did our usual point at sign, me no understand korean, smile and hope they get it! she did. the lady drove us to apartment one. A big house split into 3 apartments, its was very nice, big, etc everything was new and she said she would get us a bed and couch. we said we would call her.

We walked back and went to a realtor. They took us to a new apartment building, it was okay! smaller than the first and no balcony etc. But it did have the most amazing bathroom. It ws a western apartmment but we weren't happy, the price was higher than the last one and we couldn't get it furnished. We said we would call them! Yeah right

The third apartment was horrible. It was just old, smelly and me and matt looked at each other and pulled the same face! prision cell apartment. The korean lady was speaking english "its cheap its cheap" yes it may be cheap mrs but there is no way.

We went back to korea with the idea that we would get something basic as we are only here until August but there is a level you are not going to pass to live somewhere.

We went for lunch, i had a wine and a ceaser salad matt had soda and salad at our local restaurant called The Puffin. The food is western and the waiters are so friendly.

We decided to go with the first apartment. We moved in on Sunday. Its fantastic.

Back in the UK

After an emotional goodbye both to friends and my fiance i took a rather ridiculous journey back to England. Ridiculous in the sense that i had to fly to HongKong which took 3 hours, then change planes and board a thirteen hour flight to London Heathrow. You know what its like when you want to get home, you just want to be there 5 minutes ago...

My slide show from Pancho's Mexican Restaurant in Itaewon, Goodbye Erin and sort of goodbye for now to me!!

Anyway i am now home, been here for exactly 2 and half weeks. People say once you get home you realise that things haven't really changed and want to get off again. My point entirely. It was amazing to see my family and hang out with them My brother has grown somewhat and now towers above me more than before, he looks alot older, i blame the army!

Due to the fact i am not working my days are spent planing our wedding and channel surfing. I usually start the day with Jeremy Kyle, its a talk show with the, how can i put it nicely, Dregs of Society telling an overactive audience that their fiance married their dad, or some disgraceful behaviour that would constitute you to write a story and win a £50 voucher in Chat magazine. Yes it really is that bad and guess what? I am hooked! also my dad watches it and is intrigued by these families from hell that allow themselves to be judged by the whole of the UK. Nice one Jeremy..

Whilst i was home i went out with my grandad and his friends Rick and Vicky. We went for a curry and a few bottles of Vino. Yes i was a bit drunk.

On St PAtricks day i went with my Grandad and his friends and their kids to watch Northampton Saints v Sale. It was a draw. Good match though and the seats we had were amazing. So that was a great day.

Just a few things that have changed here:

Kelloggs Corn Flakes with Honey.
New Hollyoaks Theme Tune
Guiness flavoured Marmite for St Patricks Day

Yes thats it!

So on the 28th March i will fly out to Chicago. Married on the 14th April and Flying back to Korea on the 18th April. Start back at ECC beginning of MAY.
